Deleting your account

There are two separate things

They are erased in two different places, and it is worth knowing which is which before you start.

• Everything on your phone — your birth details, your chart, your saved practices, your history and your downloaded audio. None of it has ever been sent to us. Settings → Start over erases all of it immediately, and so does uninstalling the app.
• The anonymous account and its subscription record — the only thing we hold on a server. It has no name, no email address and no password: it is a random identifier and a note of whether a subscription is currently active.

Deleting the account from inside the app

Open Settings → Delete my account. It deletes the account and everything attached to it, permanently and without a waiting period. This cannot be undone and we cannot do it for you afterwards, because there is nothing on the account that would let us work out that it was yours.

Asking us to delete it instead

You do not have to use the app. Write to [email protected] and ask us to delete the account. Because the account is anonymous, you will need to tell us the identifier, which the app shows under Settings. It is the only thing that connects a request to a record.

If Settings tells you that nothing is held on a server for your device, then there is no identifier and nothing to delete. An account is only made the first time you open a practice from the full library, so if you have never done that, one was never created.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Then the identifier is gone with it, and so is every piece of information described in the first bullet above — uninstalling erased all of that from your phone at the time. What remains on our server is a random string and a subscription flag, with nothing in it that names you, reaches you, or could be matched to you by us or by anybody else. We have no way to find it on your behalf, and no way to confirm it was yours if we did. That is a consequence of never asking you for an email address, and we would rather say so plainly than imply a lookup we cannot perform. If you are still paying, the paragraph below is the part that matters.

Deleting the account does not cancel your subscription

Cancel that in Google Play, separately, or you will keep being charged for something you can no longer download. Subscriptions are sold and managed by Google Play rather than by us, so it is the only place that can stop one.

What we hold, in full

The Evenbell Privacy Policy lists everything, including the parts that are not the account: what our servers record when the app downloads a practice, what the app measures and how to switch that off, and what is never sent under any circumstances.
